Mission Statement

Move The Goalposts (MTGP) was started in 2020 by Steve Marchand to identify, recruit, and support downballot New Hampshire Democratic candidates in the most competitive districts.  To do so, MTGP focuses on using data to identify the greatest marginal value for every dollar and volunteer hour expended.

The goal is simple: Take back the majorities downballot, and help build a brand, a bench, and a vision that can lead New Hampshire for a generation.  Here's how we do it:

1)  Use innovative new analytical tools to identify the downballot districts with the greatest opportunities (or threats, for our incumbents) of being competitive.  We then share that information in engaging, useful ways with activists, local committees, and candidates.

2) Work with local leaders to identify ideal candidates for these districts, helping recruit, motivate, and train great candidates.

3) Provide meaningful financial, political, policy, messaging, and grassroots support to the candidates in the districts closest to the "tipping point" of winning and losing.
